Capitalising 4 organisations (1st Cardiff Putonghua Company at Cardiff Chinese Christian Church, Boys Brigades Malaysia, Presbyterian Church and associated NGOs) from Wales-Malaysia, the PIE (Partnership in Embracing) programme for Boys’-Girls Brigades transformed the wellbeing and resilient of the minority youth (many never been to Malaysia or abroad before) - the British-born-Chinese ethics through facilitating the two-ways Short-Term Mobility (STM) with the once a life-event:
(1) Embracing diversity through cultural exchange: learnt simple local languages including Welsh, Malay and Chinese, took the challenge to eat durians, spicy food, Welsh Black Pudding or Blue Cheese; delivered Malaysia-Welsh culture awareness raising presentations;
(2) Embracing equity through awareness-raising: mutually benefited educational sessions with partners for underprivileged communities including refugees, B40 and indigenous community work;
(3) Embracing wellbeing through connecting and giving: prepared and delivered Samaritan’s Shoes Box and bags to the B40 pupils and conducted introductory Public Health Campaign with Welsh exemplars (recycling, teeth brushing and hand washing) to Inwards Learners and Refugees;
(4) Embracing wellbeing through learning and being physically active: visited Boys’ Brigade Malaysia Head Quarter and of Boys’ Brigade in partnering churches for unique cross-nations’ experiences in gaining the “Drill Badges” and “International Relation Badges”; and (5) Embracing wellbeing and resilient through reflecting (daily devotion and debrief): transformed Boys-Girls Brigades spiritually, mentally, socially and educationally via international voluntary work, leadership of youth services, and the above objective 1-4, serving as Wales Ambassadors to Malaysia.

Taith’s supported PIE-STM direct impacted the first uniformed youth group at Cardiff Chinese Christian Church and under-privileged communities we connected. A series of skillsets are developed throughout the two years of STM preparation and deliveries, both the Brigaders and officers are developed in confidence, resilient and challenge our worldviews and how to live our life-after the STM, i.e. continue to serve Wales but impacting the world.
